Territorio + Archivo + Super8

Explorations to the Mar Menor through Art and Science.

Territorio + Archivo + Super8 is a critic exploration route of the Mar Menor lagoon using Super-8 format cameras based on geolocalizated cinematographic accounts. During this exploration we will analize a series of domestical cinema films recorded between the 50’s and 80s in concrete locations of Santiago de la Rivera’s shoreline, in Murcia (Spain). After that we will be visiting these same locations from the old films to record again, in the present, new films in the same Super-8 format. The purpose is to conduct a comparative analysis about the recent Mar Menor’s memories associated at those places. The films with which we will work belong to the Memorias Celuloides’ film archive, and the methodology that Salvi Vivancos, visual artist, art historian and small-format film retriever, has developed in his research around this type of filming format.
