Atlas Imaginario del Mar Menor (AIMM) is one of the two selected projects on Reset: Mar Menor 2019 Open Call and residency for artists.
Project’s objective is the creation of an Imaginary Atlas of the Mar Menor (AIMM) based on scientific data collection and creative speculation of the significant influence of human behaviour on Earth, that has generated a new geological era named Anthropocene. The atlas will contain both geographic and anatomical maps of new or possible species, political, social boundaries, etc. That will analyze and expose the Mar Menor and its reality against the Anthropocene.
This Imaginary Atlas of the Mar Menor (AIMM) is based on the scientific capacity of analysis and the speculative process of art and creation in order to join forces and present a collection of images, maps, dissections or diagrams through drawing that generate questions and open possible doors to scientific study.
The project will adress topics around the Mar Menor as a place of: tourist claim, productive garden, deposit of spills, sports space, resort, natural oasis, etc. They will serve as an entry point to the creation of the new imaginary fruit of the Anthropocene in the Mar Menor.
