Mar Menor Memories (Memorias del Mar Menor) is Julio D. Suárez Espinosa documentary project. He is a research fellow in Reset: Mar Menor – imaginaries’ laboratory for a landscape in crisis and it is part of his final degree project in Audiovisual Communication of the School of Communication and Documentation of the University of Murcia. It is a proposal in which life, problems, memories and experiences are discussed, as well as the customs of the fishing community of the Mar Menor with the support of the Fishermen’s Association of San Pedro del Pinatar and from an anthropological and sociocultural perspective. The objective is to create new imaginaries with the renewal of the image and the icons associated with the fishing community of Mar Menor through their own words and under the observation of their environment and their daily life. An exercise of memory and archive must be carried out, since it is capital because the testimonies can be lost inside the ecosystem of digital media and in our current global scenario. The initiative has been in development since the summer of 2018 and will be available shortly through a dedicated website linked to the media of the Reset: Mar Menor’s project.
